Continuing Legal Education & Training Coursesfrom The Devil's Advocate
Devil's Advocate provides continuing legal education courses and other training for law firms, individual lawyers, in-house legal departments (and other personnel dealing with lawyers or the legal system), and anyone else interested in a short course. Courses may also be presented through bar organizations or any other groups interested in lawyers and the law. Most topics qualify for continuing legal education credits in most jurisdictions. DA's seminars are timely and practical -- months or years ahead of commercial and bar-sponsored seminars. Current seminars include:
Other topics include:
or browse our website for inspiration. Typical options include live, in-person seminars at your location, often during an in-house breakfast or lunch. We also schedule seminars open to the public in our general vicinity, near Tyson's Corner and Reston, Virginia USA. We can make arrangements for remote, live participation by phone or web. Most presentations last at least one hour and up to four hours in the same day, covering up to three separate topics. Our primary speaker is John Toothman, Esq., the founder of Devil's Advocate. (To see what you're getting into, check out his blog.) Mr. Toothman has taught over 50 seminars publicly and privately (for firms and in-house for corporations and insurance companies) at the international, national, state, and local levels, including the ABA and other national associations. In addition to writing several leading books and many articles on fees and litigation, Mr. Toothman created a clinical trial litigation course for the George Washington University Law School. Other speakers may be included by arrangement through DA. DA courses use several different formats, from traditional talks, by one or more persons, to interactive training and multi-media presentations whenever possible. Of special interest to some clients are presentations revolving around a limited DA review of the client's own legal bills. Contact DA to discuss topics, availability, and cost. (DA charges a reasonable fee for this service. Some courses may be provided at no cost or for reimbursement of DA's travel expenses. DA generally obtains Virginia CLE credit approval and attendees or the sponsor arranges for credit in other jurisdictions.) DA seminars are produced by LitWatch®, Inc.
